PM-Kisan Update: In a determined push to ensure that every eligible farmer in Uttar Pradesh is registered under government welfare schemes, especially the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan), the state government has announced strict monitoring measures ahead of the release of the next installment.
PM-Kisan Latest Update
Acting on Chief Minister Yogi AdityanathтАЩs directive, all District Magistrates (DMs) have been instructed to verify 100% farmer registrations before disbursing the next PM-Kisan payment. The move is aimed at plugging data gaps and ensuring that only verified, eligible farmers benefit from the scheme.
As part of this initiative, DMs will lead daily progress reviews starting September 16, coinciding with the launch of a state-wide campaign for complete farmer registration. Extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaigns will be rolled out across all districts to raise awareness about the registration process, the benefits of inclusion in government schemes and the role of accurate land ownership records.
Special attention will be given to underperforming districts, where on-ground officials are expected to ramp up field visits, data verification, and outreach activities to meet the state’s goal of 2.88 crore farmer registrations. As of now, over 1.45 crore farmers – more than 50% of the target have been registered.
Land Record Corrections to Support Accurate Farmer Data
To facilitate this ambitious effort, the Revenue Department has been directed to issue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to all revenue officers. These SOPs are aimed at ensuring that land ownership records are corrected and linked with Aadhaar, enabling accurate and authenticated farmer registration.
District-wise Progress: Bijnor Leads
Among the best-performing districts, Bijnor leads with over 58% registration, followed closely by Hardoi (57.84%), Shravasti (57.47%), Pilibhit (56.89%), and Rampur (56.72%). Meanwhile, in districts such as Amroha, Azamgarh, Balrampur, Etah and Jaunpur, 100% verification of unregistered farmers has been completed, signaling strong groundwork by field officers.
No Fertilizer Shortage, Assures State Government
Amid registration efforts, the state government has also addressed concerns about fertilizer availability. The Chief MinisterтАЩs Office (CMO) confirmed that there is no shortage of fertilizers across Uttar Pradesh. Farmers have been urged not to hoard or panic-buy, as sufficient stocks are in place.
According to data from the Agriculture Department, fertilizer sales have increased significantly compared to last year. By August 18, 2025, a total of 42.64 lakh metric tonnes had been sold up from 36.76 lakh metric tonnes during the same period in the Kharif 2024 season.
CM YogiтАЩs Message to Farmers
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to farmers to buy fertilizers only as needed, reiterating that supply chains are strong and responsive. He has also directed each district to set up dedicated complaint cells to resolve issues related to fertilizer access and pricing swiftly. To prevent black marketing and overpricing, district officials have been instructed to conduct regular inspections, maintain direct communication with farmers and ensure that distribution remains fair and transparent.
PM-Kisan Benefits to all Farmers
With these strong enforcement and support measures, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to bring every farmer into the fold of digital registration and secure access to crucial benefits under PM-Kisan and other agricultural schemes.
