Mushroom Farming Training In IARI

A Mushroom Farming training is adding to the initiatives of The Zonal Technology Management and Business Planning & Development (ZTM & BPD) Unit, along with the Division of Food Science & Post Harvest Technology (FS & PHT) at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi. They are hosting a five-day Agripreneurship Development Program (ADP) titled “Mushroom Cultivation for Sustainable Agribusiness.” The training is scheduled from August 25 to 29, 2025, with registrations open from July 25 to August 15, 2025.

Objective of ICAR-IARI Training

Designed to empower rural farmers, youth from semi-urban and rural areas and emerging agripreneurs, the program will deliver both theoretical and hands-on training in modern mushroom cultivation. Participants will be exposed to the entire value chain, right from production to processing – enabling them to gain practical knowledge, technical skills & business insights to build sustainable ventures in mushroom farming.

This comprehensive training will focus on various aspects such as spawn production, substrate and compost preparation, casing material formulation & integrated pest and disease management. Participants will also learn about post-harvest handling, processing techniques and value-added product development to improve product quality, shelf-life & profitability.

The course will be led by a panel of experienced scientists:

Course Director: Dr. Deeba Kamil, Senior Scientist and In-Charge, ITCC, Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-IARI.

Course Coordinator: Dr. Akriti Sharma, In-Charge, ZTM & BPD Unit, ICAR-IARI.

Course Co-Coordinator: Dr. Amrita Das, Senior Scientist, Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-IARI.

Eligibility for ICAR-IARI Training

The program welcomes applicants who have completed at least 10th standard and have an interest in developing entrepreneurial ventures in agriculture. A total of 25 seats are available and will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The training will be held at the ZTM & BPD Unit and Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-IARI, Pusa Campus, New Delhi – 110012.

ICAR-IARI Training Fees

The registration fee for the program is Rs. 3500 per participant, which covers training materials and sessions but excludes accommodation and meals.

The training aims to support self-employment, promote sustainable agribusiness practices and strengthen the agri-startup ecosystem through focused skill-building in mushroom cultivation.
