🏛 About Maharana Pratap Horticultural University
Established by Haryana Legislature Act No. 32 of 2016 on 28th November 2016, MHU is the first Horticulture University in Haryana and the 7th Horticultural University in India. The mandate of the university is to impart quality education, conduct research and extension activities in the field of Horticulture and allied sciences.
The university has two constituent colleges: College of Horticulture at Anjanthali (Karnal) and a newly established College of Horticulture at Chandsoli (Ambala). The university has also established six Regional Research Centres across Haryana. MHU has signed MoUs with Brunel University (London), Kochi University (Japan), Western Sydney University (Australia), and International Fertilizer Development Center (USA).

- 🏅 Sports Quota: 2 additional seats in UG programme for distinguished sports persons (performance in recognised international/national/state competitions).
- 🌾 Land Donation Seat (LDV): 1 additional seat for candidate from village that donated land for university establishment (with Panchayat resolution).
- 👧 Only Girl Child: 1 additional seat for "only girl child" or one amongst two girl children with no male child.
- 👨🏫 MHU Employee's Ward: 2 additional seats in UG programme + 1 seat for ward of employee who died in service.

🎖️ Scholarships & Financial Assistance
- Merit Scholarship (UG): ₹800/month to 25% of Haryana resident students (₹1200/month for girl students).
- National Talent Scholarship (ICAR): ₹3,000/month for UG students studying outside domicile state.
- Maintenance Allowance (SC/BC): ₹300/month (Day Scholar) and ₹570/month (Hosteller).
- Merit Stipend (M.Sc): ₹6,000/month for students with OGPA ≥7.0/10.00 (maintain 7.5 thereafter).
- Merit Stipend (Ph.D): ₹10,000/month for non-in-service students with OGPA ≥7.5/10.00.
- General Stipend (M.Sc): ₹3,000/month for non-in-service students not receiving merit stipend.
- General Stipend (Ph.D): ₹5,000/month for non-in-service students not receiving merit stipend.
📊 Reservation Policy (Haryana Residents)
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 20% (10% Deprived SC + 10% Other SC)
- Backward Classes (BC): 27% (Block-A 16% + Block-B 11%)
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10%
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 3% (horizontal reservation within each category)
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3% horizontal reservation

🚫 Anti-Ragging Rules
Ragging is strictly prohibited in the University. The University has adopted UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, as well as the Haryana Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act 2012. Any student found guilty of ragging will face strict disciplinary action including suspension, expulsion, rustication up to three years, fine up to ₹25,000, and may also be proceeded against under penal laws.
