PM-Kisan Update: With only a day to go for the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, eligible farmers across the country are urged to ensure that all formalities, including e-KYC, bank account linkage and beneficiary status verification, are completed immediately. The upcoming installment, scheduled for August 2, will see ₹20,500 crore transferred directly into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Meeting before releasing PM-Kisan 20th Installment
In preparation for the event, a high-level meeting was held yesterday under the leadership of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The session focused on reviewing readiness for the nationwide rollout and ensuring that no eligible farmer is left behind. The meeting was attended virtually by directors, vice chancellors and heads of 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), along with senior officials from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and various agricultural universities.
Shri Chouhan emphasized that the upcoming installment, like previous ones, is part of a sustained effort by the central government to provide timely financial support to farmers. Since the scheme’s inception in 2019, over ₹3.69 lakh crore has already been disbursed across 19 installments. Each eligible farmer receives ₹6,000 annually, credited in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months.
Describing the August 2 disbursement as a “festival and a mission”, the Union Minister called for extensive mobilization at all administrative levels – national, state, district and village. He encouraged officials to run the event as a nationwide campaign and ensure robust participation from farming communities. In addition, he instructed the KVKs to begin early preparations and to engage directly with farmers to raise awareness about both the PM-KISAN scheme and other ongoing agricultural development initiatives.
PM-Kisan: Deployment of Krishi Sakhis, Drone Didis, Bank Sakhis & Gram Panchayat Sarpanches
To amplify outreach, grassroots workers such as Krishi Sakhis, Drone Didis, Bank Sakhis, Bima Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis and Gram Panchayat Sarpanches will be deployed to disseminate information in rural areas. Shri Chouhan noted that this is also a key period to engage with farmers on Kharif crop-related discussions, thereby strengthening the government’s connection with the farming sector.
PM Modi to interact directly with PM-Kisan Beneficiaries
Farmers have been encouraged to participate actively in the upcoming event, which will be led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Varanasi. The event is expected to feature direct interaction with farmers and highlight various schemes aimed at improving agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
Also present at the meeting were Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat and several other senior ministry officials. The collective message from the top leadership was clear: ensure full preparedness, maximize participation, and guarantee that every eligible farmer receives the benefit without delay.
