Why this course matters

To ensure the availability of safe and quality dairy foods in line with Codex principles, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has laid down microbiological standards for milk and milk products under FSSR 2016. Strengthening the capacity of food inspectors, laboratory personnel, researchers, students, and dairy industry professionals is essential for effective implementation of these standards.

ICAR-NDRI Karnal is organising this specialised programme to build both theoretical understanding and hands-on skill in assessing hygiene and safety indicators across dairy products — from sampling to reporting.

To provide basic knowledge and hands-on training on microbiological quality and safety analysis of dairy products.

  • Pathogen detection & enumeration techniques
  • FSSR microbiological criteria
  • Sampling plans & aseptic practices
  • Biosafety concepts
  • Rapid diagnostic methods developed by ICAR-NDRI
